She is of French German, Irish and Scottish heritage. Her family in 1847 founded the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery located in Erie Pennsylvania. John Martin Magenau Jr. served as the company's President and COO up until it closed in 1978. Jacobs first began acting lessons when she was 8 years old and continued to take Saturday classes at Pittsburgh Playhouse. When she graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in the year 2000, Jacobs was able to move into New York City New York to attend her studies at the Juilliard School where she was a member of Drama Division's Group 33. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2004 following graduation from the Lebanon High School.
